A PDF can hold the right information without giving learners a useful way to practise it. Docs to Training starts with the document, then gives an author editable lessons, source references and a review step before publication. The aim is to turn existing material into training you can inspect and maintain.
How the workflow works
Begin with a text-based PDF. Inspect the extracted content and coverage warnings before choosing what belongs in the course. Approve the outline, arrange supported lesson blocks and check the wording against its source. A source anchor helps a reviewer find the evidence behind a lesson; it does not establish that every claim is correct or that the document itself is current.
Use the learner preview to read the course at different screen sizes. Add appropriate questions and check their answer keys and explanations. A short policy may need a focused lesson; a long manual may need a narrower scope. Converting every paragraph into a screen is a design choice, not a requirement.
When the source changes, compare the proposed update with the existing course. Review the changes and preserve author edits through the source-update workflow. Publication creates a snapshot so an exported package corresponds to an approved version. Keep an editable project archive as well as the learner package.
Keep a deliverable you can maintain
The current local build exports SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004 4th Edition and standalone packages. Test the selected package in your own LMS before assigning it to learners. This beta demonstrates the workflow using original fictional material; the hosted beta requires verified email signup.
Questions about this workflow
Can I convert a scanned PDF?
OCR is not implemented. Use a document with selectable text and inspect extraction warnings. Image-only pages need another preparation workflow.
Will the course look exactly like my PDF?
No. Docs to Training extracts supported content for editable lessons. It does not reproduce every page layout, font or embedded media element.
Is a PDF in a SCORM wrapper the same thing?
A wrapper can present the document for reading. This workflow is for authors who want to restructure supported content into editable training and review it before export.
