Portable training, explained

Choose an export, then test the learner journey

Understand Docs to Training’s SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, standalone and editable project exports, with practical checks before LMS delivery.

A learner package and an editable project archive solve different problems. A SCORM ZIP is intended for delivery through a compatible learning management system. An editable archive is intended for continued authoring and handover. Keep both when you need to deliver a course today and maintain it later.

How the workflow works

The current Docs to Training local build exports SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 4th Edition packages. Ask your LMS administrator which version the destination supports. Do not select a version simply because its number is newer. Upload a representative package and verify the actual settings used for your course.

Test the learner journey from launch to completion. Answer questions, inspect score reporting, leave part-way through and return to check resume behaviour. Repeat with the browser and device types your audience uses. Look at the LMS report as well as the course screen: a course that looks complete may still need reporting configuration or investigation.

Docs to Training uses the same learner renderer for preview and exported content. Exports include local runtime and assets and perform no SaaS telemetry. These implementation choices do not establish universal LMS compatibility. Recorded native Moodle 1.2 evidence applies to the tested versions, fixture and configuration. Runtime 0.3.5 packages also passed SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 lifecycle checks in SCORM Cloud. Current 0.3.8 downloads have local checks and no external LMS receipt. Formal conformance and broader compatibility remain unverified.

Keep a deliverable you can maintain

A standalone package offers a separate delivery option, while a project ZIP keeps supported editable project data for restoration. A demo draft JSON is another, narrower artifact; it is not the complete project archive. Check what each download contains before planning a handover. This beta is for evaluation, with free beta authoring available separately.

Questions about this workflow

Does a SCORM ZIP include the editable source?

Do not assume it does. Download the dedicated editable project archive for continued Docs to Training authoring and retain your original source documents.

Can I import any other tool’s SCORM course?

Arbitrary third-party SCORM recovery is not an implemented capability. Use supported source documents or a supported Docs to Training project archive.

Is the standalone package an LMS report?

No. A standalone learner experience and LMS-managed tracking serve different delivery needs. Test the SCORM package in the destination LMS when you need LMS reporting.
